A visit to Santa? Ryanair will launch direct flights to Lapland from Dublin

Lapland might be a spectacular, once-in-a-lifetime vacation destination, but it can also come with a hefty price tag in the shape of Santa Claus.

One-night packages from Ireland cost more than €1,000, despite the fact that they include charter flights, accommodations, dinners, warm thermal suits, and activities like as snow mobile rides and visits from Santa Claus.

Ryanair is now offering an additional travel option to northern Finland, announcing two weekly flights from Dublin to Rovaniemi, which will begin operating in November.

The flights take around 3.5 hours each way, with a two-hour time difference between the two destinations.

Fares for December start at €189.99 each way, according to current quotes. Those traveling in early November will discover lower ticket prices, but those traveling at that time will be less likely to see snow or the entire Christmas scene.

“It’s never too early to start thinking about Christmas, so we’re delighted to announce the launch of our Dublin to Lapland route, which will operate twice weekly from November 3 as part of our Irish winter 2022/2023 schedule,” said Dara Brady, Ryanair’s Director of Marketing. “The route will operate twice weekly from November 3 as part of our Irish winter 2022/2023 schedule.”

In the winter, visitors to Rovaniemi will find a thriving Christmas business in operation, with sleigh rides, husky sledding, Christmas markets, and the opportunity to get your passport stamped within the Arctic Circle just a few of the activities available in “Santa Claus’ official city.”

Activities, excursions, and Santa visits may all be scheduled individually via the website visitrovaniemi.com.

Despite the fact that packages from tour operators like Sunway, TUI, Abbey Travel, Magic Vacations, or Travelnet.ie can be expensive (even day trips begin at €665pp), they also eliminate the hassle of planning an action-packed short break in a cold climate, include transfers and checked bags, and can be booked with lower deposits – for example, €100pp.

Some hotels have already sold out for the year 2022.
