Norwegian Summer Cruise to the Caribbean Instead of the Baltic

(10:29 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time) — Norwegian Cruise Line has announced that the Norwegian Getaway will sail to the Caribbean this summer instead of the Baltic area, as was originally planned.

The Norwegian Getaway, which can accommodate 3,963 passengers, was initially planned to embark on a series of Baltic excursions this summer. Several trips have been canceled lately in lieu of redeploying the ship to a different location, albeit not all of them.

Norwegian Cruise Line issued a statement saying, “After further consideration, we have decided to cancel Norwegian Getaway’s itineraries with embarking dates ranging from June 14, 2022, through and including October 9, 2022.”

During the summer months of June through December, Norwegian Getaway will depart from Port Canaveral (Orlando), with sailings to the Eastern, Western, and Southern Caribbean destinations on the itinerary. Also included in the itinerary are visits to Norwegian Cruise Line’s own island, Great Stirrup Cay, in the Bahamas.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, there has been a rising lack of trust in Baltic sailings, which has resulted in this decision. Most deployment plans were scrapped very immediately after the invasion because of St. Petersburg, Russia, which had been a mainstay and highlight of the Baltic itinerary before to the attack.
