JetBlue Expands Into Midwest From Boston & NY
Flights to Milwaukee and Kansas City from New York and Boston were launched on Sunday, further strengthening JetBlue’s footprint in the Midwest. The new destinations are two of more than half a dozen additional locations that JetBlue has added to its route map in recent months.
JetBlue announced the formal debut of flights from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York and Logan International Airport (BOS) in Boston to Kansas City International Airport on March 27, 2022. (MCI). The airline’s Northeast Alliance (NEA) partnership made it possible to launch the Kansas City service, which is intended to help the airline expand its footprint in the Midwest while diversifying and expanding its New York and Boston focus city strategy, among other things.
JetBlue’s vice president of network planning, Andrea Lusso, made the following statement:
The request for more flights to the Midwest has been coming from customers and crewmembers for years, and we have listened. By delivering our inexpensive rates and exceptional service to Kansas City, we will be able to link the Northeast to the center of America, as well as provide consumers access to our New York and Boston focal city networks.”
A large number of customers who fly from Kansas City to Additional York and Boston on a daily basis will benefit from the addition of new flights. According to records from the Kansas City Aviation Department, New York City was the third most popular pre-pandemic destination from Kansas City, with around 700 daily passengers each way, followed by Boston with approximately 250 passengers each way.
On the same day, JetBlue began offering flights to Milwaukee from both New York City and Boston, making the Wisconsin city the airline’s 110th destination overall. In addition to the service to Kansas City, the airline’s Airbus A220 aircraft will also serve the city of Milwaukee.
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley made the following statement:
“Milwaukee County is delighted that JetBlue will attract more visitors and business travelers from New York and Boston to Milwaukee and the surrounding areas…” Congratulations to the Airport crew for their achievement in bringing JetBlue to MKE. We are looking forward to using the new service!”
On this route, JetBlue does face some competition from other carriers. Also connecting Boston and Milwaukee is Delta Airlines, which operates flights between the two cities. While JetBlue is the only airline that serves JFK from the city, both Delta and United operate flights between Milwaukee and New York LaGuardia and Newark.
