Japan Relaxes Tourism Restrictions Opens Bars Restaurants

In March 2022, Japan began accepting students and business people who were sponsored by a government agency. The small number of permitted entrants must provide documentation of a negative PCR COVID-19 test performed within 92 hours of their arrival, as well as comply with a 14-day required quarantine.

Japan will lift the Covid-19 limitations on bars and restaurants on March 22, 2022, according to the Japanese government.

On Monday, the Japanese government eliminated coronavirus limitations on pubs and restaurants across the nation, putting an end to what had previously been referred to as “officially voluntary” restrictions on operation hours. Tokyo and Osaka were among the prefectures where the government withdrew its “quasi-state of emergency” on Tuesday, noting a decrease in the number of new illnesses.

For the first time since January, Japan has not invoked its national disaster preparedness measures. According to reports, the daily average number of new coronavirus infections in Japan is declining after reaching a high of over 100,000 cases last month.
