Zimbabwe City Status to Boost Victoria Falls Tourism - TravelrNews

Victoria Falls is a waterfall located in Victoria, British Columbia. Botswana The Minister of International Affairs and Cooperation, Lemogang Kwape, has congratulated Victoria Falls on achieving city status, stating that this would help to enhance tourism in the world-renowned tourist attraction. In December 2020, President Mnangagwa granted the local authority the status of a municipality.

In addition to serving as Zimbabwe’s tourist capital, Victoria Falls is a major leisure and vacation destination in Southern Africa, particularly in the Kavango-Zambezi (KAZA) Transfrontier Conservation Area. In addition to one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and a world heritage site across the Zambezi River, the city is home to a diverse range of animal species, including the Big Five (lions, leopards, and elephants).

Tourists from most Southern African nations make a point of visiting Victoria Falls in order to take in the breathtaking natural beauty of the region. Minister Kwape, who is co-chairing the 3rd session of the Zimbabwe-Botswana Bi-National Commission (BNC) ministerial meeting in this city, said the city status is a significant milestone in the development of tourism in the two countries.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Victoria Falls for their kind welcome offered to him and his entourage. “I’d like to express my congratulations to the Victoria Falls municipality on its upcoming promotion to the distinguished city status in December 2020.

According to him, the State Minister’s description of Victoria Falls was “very accurate,” since it is certainly one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World as well as a World Heritage Site, among other things.

“I am certain that this designation will improve the city’s competitiveness in the tourist industry.” We, as honorable ministers, are willing to take the challenge,” Minister Kwape stated, eliciting laughs from the gathering of delegates.

He was responding to an offer from his Zimbabwean counterpart and co-chair of the ministerial conference, Ambassador Frederick Shava, who challenged him and his group to participate in a variety of tourist activities, including bungee jumping, at the ministerial meeting.

At the same event, Matabeleland North Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Richard Moyo said that the mighty Victoria Falls, with its extraordinary geological characteristics, amazing beauty, sprays, mist, and rainbow, is an important international tourist attraction that should be promoted.

“Victoria Falls is the tallest and most powerful waterfall on the planet. Mosi-oa-Tunya Falls, also known as the Smoke that Thunders, is one of the world’s Seven Natural Wonders and a popular tourist destination. I cordially invite you to take a tour of the Falls and participate in the various recreational activities that our beautiful city has to offer, including hiking, biking, and swimming “Minister Moyo expressed his gratitude.

He said that the decision to host the third session of the BNC was appropriate since it would encourage tourism in both nations while also strengthening the bilateral cooperation in all fields, according to him.

On Wednesday, delegates went on a tour of the Niagara Falls, while other ministers went on a sunset boat on the Niagara River.
