According to a poll conducted by Cheaphotels.org, the resort town of Poipu, on the southern side of the Hawaiian island of Kauai, is the most costly spring destination in the United States, followed by Las Vegas and New York.
The poll analyzed hotel prices in a variety of locations throughout the United States in May 2022. In the poll, only hotels with three stars or above and those were within walking distance of a beach, a city center, or a town center were considered.
In accordance with the findings of the study, the most cheap double accommodation in Poipu will cost guests on average $397 per night.
It is the port city of Charleston in South Carolina that ranks second most costly with an average nightly rate of $374. Another Hawaii island town, Wailea, rounds out the top three most expensive destinations with an average nightly fee of $354 per person.
Rates have climbed dramatically across the board when compared to spring 2021, with the most dramatic increases occurring in Hawaii, where passengers may expect to spend up to 75 percent more this spring. In contrast, the most significant increases are seen in Charleston and Boston where rates have increased by more than double what they were a year ago.
Key West, which was the most expensive location in 2021, is now just the 5th most expensive destination this year, with a nightly rate of $340. The little town of Calistoga in California is the most costly tourist attraction in the state, with overnight prices of $335 expected this spring.
