After conducting an analysis on a database including more than 100,000 skyscrapers and other high-rise structures, Buildworld generated this list. In order to get a more realistic view of each city’s skyline, the construction material merchant didn’t restrict the research to megatall structures, which are buildings that are taller than 600 meters. Instead, it took the 50 tallest buildings in each city and took the average height of those buildings.
In addition to being home to the world’s highest individual building, the city of Dubai, which is located in the United Arab Emirates, also has the most magnificent skyline in the world. The average height of the city’s tallest structures is 323.9 meters, which is equal to 1062.6 ft. In contrast, the Burj Khalifa, which is the tallest skyscraper in Dubai and one of the tallest buildings anywhere in the world, reaches a height of 2716.5 feet.
Behind it lies New York City, which is home to some of the most recognizable skyscrapers in the world, including the Empire State Building and 1 World Trade Center. Together, these buildings allow New York City’s skyline reach an average height of 299.1 meters (981.2 ft). Shenzhen, Shanghai, and Guangzhou came in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively, on the list of the most populous cities in China. The majority of the slots on the list were occupied by cities in China.
