Southwest Won’t Raise Hawaii Fares Until 2022

Southwest Airlines has announced that by the end of 2022, specialized pricing for Hawaii’s individual islands would be made accessible. The cost of a one-way journey between the islands on this airline is presently under $39 per passenger.

The Honolulu International Airport (HNL) on the island of Oahu serves as the airline’s primary hub, and it travels to a total of five different cities and towns around the Hawaiian islands. There are two airports on the Big Island, Kona and Hilo, that are serviced from that airport, in addition to Maui and Kauai.

In addition, there is a service that runs every day between Maui and Kona. The airline began offering daily service between Maui and Kauai in the month of June. According to a Southwest Airlines spokesperson,

“Since we entered the Aloha State in the spring of 2019 with interisland service, we have reduced airfares for Hawaiian families and business travelers who have found it difficult to visit the other islands for the many reasons air travel is absolutely necessary in Hawaii, including business travel, medical care, shopping, as well as day trips,” the airline said in a statement. “This will make it easier for Hawaiian families and business travelers who have found it difficult to visit the other islands.”

“For mainland guests arriving through the end of the year, our 60 inter-island flights between five airports in Hawaii make it possible for them to visit and support island communities still recovering from the economic impact of the pandemic, while also seeing more of the diversity that makes Hawaii one of the most unique and special communities on the planet.”

These tickets come with all of the standard perks that come with normal Southwest rates, such as the ability to check two bags at no additional cost, an unlimited amount of travel credits, and flexible booking choices. The airline has a number of plans to enhance the in-flight experience, including expanding the storage space in the overhead bins, installing personal plug-ins for charging electronic devices, and enhancing the quality of the Wi-Fi connection.

During the autumn and winter months, tourists may fly anywhere inside the continental United States for just $59. This pricing is only good for one-way tickets, and it is only valid for certain routes during certain time periods. Tickets must be bought by August 26, at midnight Central Standard Time (CST).
