Southwest Launch New Hawaii California Trips June 5
Southwest Airlines is introducing a number of new flights this summer, including a new service linking two popular Hawaiian vacation locations. In addition to daily flights between Sacramento (SMF) and Santa Barbara (SBA), the airline will provide weekly flights between San Jose (SJC) and Eugene, Oregon (EUC). The airline will begin offering these services on June 5. (EUG).
Along with increasing frequencies on a number of routes inside Hawaii Island, the carrier will also raise frequencies on routes between Honolulu (HNL) and Maui, Hilo (ITO), Kona (KOA) and Kauai, as well as routes between Honolulu and Maui.
The airline is making the modifications as part of a summer schedule adjustment in response to increased demand for business travel and rising pressure on airline route networks that have been weakened as a result of coronavirus cuts.
Southwest’s executive vice president and chief commercial officer, Andrew Watterson, said in a statement that the airline’s new routes and extra flights would “bring the Hospitality and value of Southwest Airlines in front of more of our Customers.”
“We’ve just expanded our flight schedule through early November, and we’re bringing on new service earlier to accommodate travelers planning early summertime excursions,” says the airline.
Southwest also announced that it will be increasing frequencies throughout its network in order to increase routes in several West Coast cities in addition to the additional routes.
Flights between San Diego (SAN) and Sacramento, San Jose, and Oakland (OAK) will be increased to as many as 20 flights each week, up from the current eight. As summer progresses, the number of flights between San Jose and Las Vegas, Long Beach, and Orange County (SNA), Boise, Idaho (BOI), Spokane, Washington (GEG), Portland, Oregon (PDX), and Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) will progressively grow.
SouthWest Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, Adam Decaire, said, “For the summer and fall, we’ve provided more flights to San Jose Customers on California short-haul business routes and into Las Vegas.” Decaire is responsible for network planning for the airline’s short-haul business routes in California and into Las Vegas.
“According to the most recent published schedules, Southwest provides more service between Silicon Valley and the Pacific Northwest than any other airline,”
