Opens new Middle East-Istanbul route

Due to the conclusion of a leasing agreement with Texel Air, DHL Express Middle East and North Africa recently began a direct route from Bahrain to Istanbul.

For this route, HL has hired the use of a Boeing 737-800BCF cargo aircraft from the cargo operator.

This action complements DHL’s Middle East network optimization plan, which seeks to maximize air savings while also shortening transit times between countries in the Middle East.

Taking advantage of the overnight service and early arrivals into DHL’s new Istanbul facility, the new Bahrain-Istanbul-Bahrain flight will dramatically decrease transit times for time-definite packages between Turkey and the Middle East by 24 hours.

“We are thrilled to extend our presence into Turkey by integrating Istanbul into DHL’s broad network of direct touchpoints, which will further consolidate our strong network position in the area,” said Richard Gale, Head of DHL Aviation Middle East and Africa. By using our best-in-class nighttime time definite capability, the new flight route will enable a more effective re-direction of traffic between Asia, the Middle East, and Turkey via our Bahrain Hub, as well as a considerable increase in service quality. We are always reviewing market demands and developing routing solutions to ensure that our international network remains well-connected and that high-demand destinations are better served; the Istanbul flight is one of a number of new route additions that we will be introducing this year.”

The Boeing 737-800BCF, which has a maximum gross payload capacity of 23,950KG and is the most fuel-efficient aircraft in its class, will help DHL achieve its goals of reducing its environmental impact in accordance with its zero-emissions policy by reducing fuel consumption.

“We are really thrilled to have signed with global logistics giant DHL and to be supporting their network growth plan via leasing of our newly-acquired Boeing 737-800BCF,” said George Chisholm, Texel Air’s Director of Sales and Marketing. Because of the demonstrated adaptability of these aircraft, DHL will be able to continue to deliver on its mission with increased speed, dependability, and efficiency in the years ahead. We aspire to build relationships with industry experts and to assist them in meeting their objectives via the supply of resourceful cargo solutions that are complimented by a high level of customer care that cannot be matched.
