As a result of the conflict in Ukraine, Marriott International, Hilton, IHG Hotels & Resorts, and Hyatt Hotels Corp. have all suspended new construction activities in the Russian market.

In addition, Marriott, IHG, and Hilton are all closing their corporate headquarters in the Russian capital.

According to a statement from Marriott, “we lament the loss of life, the extensive consequences for millions of innocent citizens, and the humanitarian crisis that has occurred in Ukraine.” “We firmly encourage those who are fighting to bring about peace and put an end to the unnecessary suffering of people everywhere.”

Despite a statement from Marriott, which said that the firm will “continue to review the potential for these hotels to stay open,” Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt properties in Russia will continue to operate.

Hilton and Hyatt both said that they will “review hotel operations in Russia,” while Hyatt stated that the company would “watch the situation as it develops.”

A total of about 30 Marriott and Hilton facilities are located across Russia. “Hyatt has six properties, while IHG has fourteen.”

Several hotel firms have undertaken humanitarian operations at the same time, with Marriott giving assistance to numerous relief groups and worldwide partners, as well as allocating $1 million in help to support its corporate colleagues in Ukraine, among other initiatives. Ukrainian migrants are also being accommodated in Marriott hotels in neighboring countries, according to the company.

Hilton said it is collaborating with partners to donate up to a million room nights to help Ukrainian refugees and humanitarian relief efforts across Europe. The company also announced a $50,000 donation to international healthcare organization Project Hope and World Central Kitchen, a nonprofit led by celebrity chef Jose Andres, as well as a $50,000 donation to Project Hope.
