EasyJet follows British Airways and Jet2 in relaxing mask rules

Passengers and staff members will no longer be required to wear masks aboard aircraft if they are not required to do so by law at either end of the flight route starting Sunday.

EasyJet has become the latest airline to announce a modification of its mask-wearing ban, joining the ranks of other airlines that have done so.

Passengers and staff members will no longer be required to wear masks aboard aircraft if they are not required to do so by law at either end of the flight route starting Sunday.

It means that facial coverings will no longer be required on domestic flights inside the United Kingdom – with the exception of routes to and from Scotland, where face coverings will still be required – as well as flights between the United Kingdom and Denmark, Gibraltar, Iceland, and Hungary.

In recent weeks, a number of major airlines, including British Airways, Jet2.com, and Tui Airways, have loosened their mask-wearing policies.

Customers of Aer Lingus and Ryanair are still required to wear masks while aboard their flight, and Dublin Airport advises that travelers wear masks throughout their airport experience.

As EasyJet said in a statement, the airline operates between more than 30 countries around Europe and must continue to guarantee that both the company and its clients abide by the legal requirements of each country to which it travels.

The airline said it would respect the applicable legal requirements while traveling to or from countries where mask regulations are still in effect.

In order to make things simple and transparent for consumers, we encourage European countries to adopt a coordinated approach when it comes to removing the need when it is feasible.

We will make every effort to offer customers with clear information, even while aboard, explaining the exact mask needs for their particular trip.
