Turkish Airlines, the country’s flag airline, has canceled 407 flights planned for Saturday as a result of heavy snowfall that pounded Istanbul. According to a Turkish Airlines statement, as many as 357 flights to and from Istanbul Foreign Airport were canceled, with 105 of those flights being on international routes.
In addition, another 50 flights from Sabiha Gokcen Airport, Istanbul’s primary aviation hub on the city’s Asian side, were canceled, according to the statement. Meanwhile, the Istanbul Airport Operator IGA has increased its efforts to avoid traffic and operations from being disrupted as a result of the snowfall.
Flights at Istanbul Airport have been restricted by 30% as a result of the weather, according to a statement from the Istanbul Airport Authority.
Operations at Istanbul Airport, where heavy snowfall has lasted continuous for many days, particularly on the apron, runway, and taxiways, have continued without incident, with the exception of a few canceled flights, have proceeded without incident.
