This week, Cyprus is planning to lift all of the travel restrictions that are still in place as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. On Wednesday, the nation will finish implementing its COVID-19 action plan (1 June).
It indicates that travelers will not be required to produce proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or recovery from COVID-19 in order to enter Cyprus, nor will they be required to present evidence of a recent negative test for COVID-19.
Yiannis Karousos, the minister of transport, characterized the decision as “a return to normalcy in terms of travel” after it was made.
According to Karousos, it is anticipated that air passenger traffic to Cyprus would reach 77 percent of its levels prior to the epidemic in May, with around 30,000 passengers coming each day.
According to Karousas, “Efforts are being made, of course, to further enhance both this percentage and the occupancy rate, and the results have been fairly encouraging.”
He also said that the guidelines regarding the wearing of masks in airports would be a decision that would be made by the nation’s minister of health. Karousas said that masks will be required to be worn if the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure determines that airport halls are high-risk zones.
The United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office has announced that, from immediately, face coverings must be worn by everyone aged six or older when in any indoor public location. It has not yet revised its recommendations for Cyprus to take into account the new information.
