Commuters in Sydney enjoy 12 days of free bus

Sydneysiders will get some consolation after weeks of commuter gridlock in the shape of 12 days of free public transportation throughout the entire city’s public transportation network.
In response to the NSW Rail, Tram, and Bus Union’s threat to strike every Friday in June unless the government established a time of free travel for commuters as an apology for last month’s catastrophe, during which trains were shut down for 24 hours, the NSW Government has made a compromise.
The free travel will be available starting on April 14 and will last through April 26.

The change, which coincides with the Easter vacation, is anticipated to benefit families that are looking to keep expenses low.
The fee rates apply to all modes of public transportation, including trains, buses, light rail, and ferries, and they cover the whole Greater Sydney area, including the Central Coast, the Hunter Valley region, the Illawarra, and the Blue Mountains, as well as the Blue Mountains. While the government has been tight-lipped about how much the free trip would cost them, it is estimated that the total cost will be close to $14 million, according to reports.
