A Bomb Threat At San Francisco Airport’s International Terminal

A bomb threat forced the evacuation of the international terminal at San Francisco International Airport, and a man has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

The international terminal of San Francisco International Airport was evacuated on Friday night due to a bomb threat. Officials reported that investigators located a possibly incendiary device during the search that took place after the evacuation. There is now one person under arrest.

The bomb threat was received about 11:15 p.m. Eastern Time (ET) and 8:15 p.m. Pacific Time (PT) on Friday, and according to the San Francisco Police Department, officials recovered a suspicious package. The object was considered by investigators at the airport to “potentially be incendiary.” Although a guy was brought into custody, more information on the incident was not immediately available.

The police claimed that the terminal was cleared “out of an abundance of caution” and that it was evacuated. The airport terminal was evacuated with the presence of hundreds of passengers.

On Saturday morning, at 12:28 a.m. Eastern Time, the airport tweeted about the evacuation, but they did not provide any specifics about what the police were doing.

Both the airport’s AirTrain and the Bay Area Rapid Transit trains were placed on indefinite hold. According to a tweet sent by the transportation agency, the BART station at the airport ceased operations at exactly 8:42 p.m.

The airport’s domestic terminals were the only locations where passengers may be dropped off or picked up by their transportation providers.

It was not possible to get any more information at this time. A request for comment about the airport was not immediately responded to by a spokeswoman for the airport.
