Malaysia Airlines will increase capacity between London and Kuala Lumpur as a result of the country’s announcement that its borders would be reopened to foreign travelers on April 1 after a two-year closure.
There will be more than 70,000 seats available when the carrier resumes service on March 27 with 11 flights per week, increasing to a double-daily frequency on June 30, according to the airline. In time for Easter and the European summer, this further contributes to the rebound of foreign travel that has occurred since the lifting of Covid-19 travel restrictions in the United Kingdom and Europe.
It also corresponds with other south-east Asian countries, such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Vietnam, which have relaxed entrance criteria for foreign tourists who have received the necessary vaccinations. The Airbus A350-900 planes that fly the most popular route from Heathrow are used on this route.
“I am delighted that we will be resuming our full schedule of twice daily flights from London Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur in the summer following the significant increase to 11 weekly flights from 27 March for the first time since early 2020,” said Daniel Bainbridge, Malaysia Airlines’ regional director for the United Kingdom and Europe.
In addition, Malaysia Airlines is working hard to raise capacity by more than 70,000 seats on its flagship route between London and Kuala Lumpur, which remains the sole non-stop flight between the two cities.
