Air Canada is donating 100 million Aeroplan points to support the Canadian government’s initiative to bring Ukrainians to Canada.
Estos puntos serán útiles para facilitar la transición, y pueden obtenerse en vuelos operados por Air Canada y sus socios de Star Alliance, como Lufthansa y LOT Polish Airlines, así como Swiss, United y otros carriers.
The Shapiro Foundation and Miles4Migrants, a non-profit organization that will be in charge of coordinating and arranging travel bookings, are also participating in this endeavor.
In collaboration with our staff, we stand ready and prepared to help and support the Canadian government’s objectives to bring Ukrainians to Canada.» Air Canada’s gift of 100 million Aeroplan points “allows us to provide our worldwide network, as well as the power of our Star Alliance alliances, to make travel to Canada more convenient,” said Michael Rousseau, president and chief executive officer of Air Canada.
Our donor community has reacted once again to the displaced Ukrainians, giving to finance flights for Ukrainian families to arrive in safety in recent weeks,» stated Diane Padilla, executive director of Miles4Migrants, in response to the new influx of Ukrainian refugees.
According to Ed Shapira, trustee of the Shapiro Foundation, “We will double Aeroplan members’ contributions for travel to Ukraine and provide the equivalent of up to 50 million Aeroplan points to enable more individuals come to Canada.”
Contributing to the Ukraine Relief Fund using Aeroplan points is one way that Aeroplan members can help in this effort to make it more convenient for Ukrainians to come to Canada.
Because of a match by the Shapiro Foundation of up to 50,000,000 points between April 20, 2022, and July 20, 2022, members who give Aeroplan points to either the Ukraine Relief Fund or Miles4Migrants will have their contributions quadruple in effect.
