“We are ecstatic that Qatar’s primary gateway to the globe has once again been crowned the world’s greatest airport at the 2022 World Airport Awards. This is another another landmark accomplishment in HIA’s long and illustrious history.” As we go forward into what promises to be an even more successful year, the commitment and service excellence that we provide continues to set the bar in the aviation industry owing to the hard work and devotion of both our personnel and the stakeholders in our company.

Customers all around the world participated in the most comprehensive airport customer satisfaction poll ever conducted to choose the winners of the World Airport Awards, which are widely considered to be the most prestigious honors bestowed upon the airport business. They evaluate customer service and facilities at more than 550 airports across the globe, and are widely considered as the industry standard for excellence in the airport business. The poll as well as the prizes are not subject to the control, influence, or input of the airport in any way.

The analysis of the data reveals a direct connection to the number of passengers who used the airports in 2021, a year in which travel circumstances were different in many places of the globe. Things are gradually returning to their usual state now that air travel is rapidly making a comeback over the majority of the planet.

Skytrax’s Edward Plaisted said, “We are thrilled to announce that Hamad International Airport has been selected the World’s Best Airport for 2022, repeating their achievement from 2021.” Our heartfelt congratulations go out to the management, workers, and stakeholders at Hamad International Airport, who have all played a part in contributing to this success for the second year in a row. In 2021, despite the fact that the pandemic continued to have an effect on airports all across the globe, Hamad International Airport was able to accommodate 17.1 million passengers and keep moving on with its growth plans.

As the Official Airport Partner for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, we want to extend our best wishes to Hamad International Airport for their efforts in helping to organize this important event. Our warmest congratulations go out to each and every one of the award-winning airports that are present here today.

The past two years have been particularly challenging for these airports as they have had to contend with the numerous restrictions imposed by COVID-19 as well as a significant decrease in the number of people who are interested in traveling. As air traffic swiftly returns to a more normal level, the challenge for all airports is to immediately offer the highest standards to consumers who have heightened travel expectations.
